Turtuk: The tiny and last village in India

Best season to visit: 15th April to End of September

Turtuk is a charming small village in the Nubra valley area of Ladakh. It is very close to the border of India-Pakistan, located on the banks of the Shyok River. Tourism in Tuktuk village started in 2010. The main tourist attractions of this village are the Royal house,2 monasteries, trekking, and culture. The people of Turtuk follow the Balti culture as it is one of Baltistani villages controlled by India. It is also well-known for its fruits, mainly apricots cultivated in the region. It is a military-dominated area and special permits are required to visit this place. Ladakhi, Balti, and Urdu are the languages used in this region.

Day 01: Arrive at Leh airport 3505 meters / 11567 ft.

Received by our representative and transfer to Hotel. Complete rest for the first half. After lunch if suitable visit sun set famous Shanti Stupa, Leh palace and Market. Dinner and overnight at Hotel in Leh.

Day 02: Leh-Sangham-Hall of fame-M.hill- Gurudwara ( Pather Sahib)

After breakfast, drive to a full day excursion to Sangam View where Indus & Zanskar river meets. You may opt for a river rafting (own cost), Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. Drive back to visit Spituk Monastery – home for the wish fulfilling Kali Mata and Hall of fame – a war memorial Museum. Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.

Day 03: Leh-Nubra valley (Via Khardongla Pass)

After a leisurely morning breakfast drive to Nubra valley (The valley of flowers) via Khardung la, (18300feet) considered as one of the highest motor able road in the World. The view from top of the passes is amazing. One can see all the way south over the Indus valley to the seemingly endless peaks. After explores we drive toward the down Hunder past an area of rolling sand dunes, one can see double hump Camel and visitors can take a camel safari (Own cost) here. Dinner and overnight in nubra valley.

Day 04: Hunder- Turtuk – Hunder

After breakfast, drive to Turtuk (which was first opened for tourists in 2010) which is a place Annexed by India only after the 1971 war, the village of Turtuk is one of the only Balti villages in India and lies right next to the LOC. The village with the whole population of Muslims still resembles mini-Pakistan. The village's inhabitants still use traditional utensils which are crafted from stone. Explore the village of Turtuk the village offers views of a beautiful valley, part of Shyok Valley. On clear days you can have a glimpse of K2 Mountain peak located across the border in Pakistan. Return to Hundar by the evening.

Day 05: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok

After breakfast at the hotel we drive to the next destination, Pangong lake via Shyok and onto Tangtse and Spangmik (Pangong). Just a few Kms drive from Hunder, visit Disket Monastery and later continue your drive towards Pangong, the road follows the Shyok river, and climbs up a mountain before finally descending into Shayok village, the entire setting being very picturesque. Afternoon we reach at Pangong lake and enjoy your day at pangong lake and observe the majestic Lake. Overnight stay in Cottages/camps.

Day 06: Pangong lake – leh (Via Changla Pass)

During early morning, you can enjoy a photo-session around the lake. Post breakfast drive to Leh via Changla pass you will reach leh by noon. On the way visit Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Gompa and Rencho School. Relax and Stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 07: Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel & drop at Airport for return journey with sweet memories of Ladakh Tour
